Two colorful Moon images from October 19 and 21, 2015

Scroll down to content

The following two shots were acquired on the evenings of October 19 and 21 using a SkyWatcher Maksutov 127mm telescope and the ASI120MM-S camera (with a red filter) placed at the focal plane of the scope. Each image is a mosaic of 10 and 24 panels respectively. The colors were added from data acquired on October 21th with the Canon EOS 550D in the focal plane of the Mak. Seeing conditions were rather poor, due to the low altitude of the Moon above the horizon.

Also, a comparison of the normal grayscale image (mirror image) versus the color image (real image), showing how much more information the color data brings to a grayscale acquisition.
