Testing the MP-E 65mm in the field – November 2020

Scroll down to content

Just got this fine lens, after years of wanted it.

It is a rather heavy and bulky lens, perhaps best fit to studio work (macro, extreme macro, and stacking) but some use it very well in the field also.

So, on a cold but sunny November day, I did just that: test it in the field on some invertebrates found under the bark of two trees.

I’ve used all magnifications, 1 to 5x, with apertures from around F/8 to F/13. All on the Canon 6D at ISO 1000 to around 1600.

It’s a superb lens, and I’m sure it will be the same with it with stacking…

  1. Fabuloasa claritatea imaginilor! Spectaculoase vietatile alea, atunci cand le vezi atat de detaliat si cu atatea culori. M-au uns pe retina, ca sa zic aasa.
