“Finally some good seeing!” These were the words I’ve articulated while looking through the eyepiece of the 14 inch scope on the night of March 20/21. After spending many hours in the two previous sessions waiting for some good seeing together with my brother-in-law , we were finally rewarded with one hour of above-average conditions.
The next shot was acquired with the 14 inch F/5 Newtonian at F/20 and the ASI 174MM with Red filter, in 7/10 seeing conditions. It presents the very interesting area around crater Marius (the flat floor crater in the left hand side) with its many domes. Also, Kepler can be seen in the right hand side, with its ray system across the field. Some rimae are also observable.
One of my previous shots of this region (from almost exactly two years ago) was selected as LPOD for March 16, 2014.
