On the night of October 22, 2019, a trans-Neptunian object (TNO) designated as (84922) 2003 VS2 occulted a Mag +14 star in Auriga. Such events can be used to determine the shape of the TNO.
Together with a few other observers I’ve participated in a small campaign to observe this event. At the moment the data from all of us is being collected and analyzed.
For now I’ll post a short animation showing the disappearance and reappearance of the star, and an image of the star field with the star marked.
My Equipment: 355mm F/4.5 Newtonian, ASI1600MM Pro in Bin 2×2, no filter. Exposures of 2 seconds, unguided. The animation contains 58 frames. A lot of fog affected the view. The occulted star is in the center of the frames.
