On a lovely Full-Moon-illuminated night, I’ve went together with Claudiu in the Comana Woods to try and image comet Q2 Lovejoy once again. Despite my best efforts, the resulting images are far from what I was aiming at…
Nevertheless, another subject proved to be much easier to photograph. That subjects was the Moon itself.
And since a Full Moon is not really that special, I’ve applied some color enhancements in order to create an highly exaggerated rendering of the color tones present on the lunar surface.
The image above was acquired using an 8″ F/5 Newtonian with Baader MPCC (Coma Corrector) and Canon 550D at ISO100 and 1/1200s exposure. The final image is a 400-frame stack.
