Barnard’s Merope Nebula – December 5, 2016

Scroll down to content

An image of a famous deep-sky object, acquired with the 50 cm Cassegrain telescope of the Astronomical Institute of Romanian Academy, in Bucharest.

The general conditions were quite poor, despite the rather good seeing: poor transparency (some fog and cirrus clouds), and a slight misalignment of the telescope optics (I must look into this). Nevertheless, some nice structural details of the nebula are visible.
